TWO WAYS TO TAKE PART
The right role. On your terms.
Choose how you want to contribute, with the terms in front of you before you commit.
01 / ADVISORY
Equity
Build with conviction.
Join a startup as an advisor and earn equity. The startup pitches you first, and you opt in only if you want to work with them.
For senior executives who want to lend their credibility to a company they believe in.
Experts in regulated industries, including accounting, law and financial services, join on the advisory track.
HOW IT WORKS
A considered match. A personal introduction.
We find the fit. You decide whether to act.
01
Map your network
Work with us to map your relationships. We use them only to find matches, and nothing goes out without your approval.
02
Find the strongest fit
We grade your connections against each startup’s ideal customer profile and bring you only the strongest matches.
03
Make your own call
Review the startup and choose whether to engage. You decide who earns your endorsement.
04
Make the introduction
You connect the right people. The startup takes it from there.
YOUR REPUTATION COMES FIRST
Built around your reputation.
We put you forward only where your relationships genuinely match.
Vetted before you meet
Every startup has raised at least one round from a prominent investor or venture firm. We review each one before it is shown to experts.
Private until you say so
Matching happens privately. Your network is never sold or shared with startups, or used for outreach without your approval.
Quality opens more doors
Startups rate every introduction. The strongest connectors get first access to new opportunities.
Experts who prove a strong fit may also be offered advisory or full-time roles.
A FEW MORE DETAILS
Before you put your name behind it.
Clear answers about your network, your time and your compensation.
How do you learn about my network, and what happens to that information?
We work with you directly to map your network, using both online and offline sources. We use that information only to match your contacts against the startups in the network. It is never sold, shared with startups or used for outreach without your approval. You can ask us to delete it at any time, and we delete it within 30 days.
Will my connections know they've been matched?
No. Matching happens privately on our side. A connection hears about a startup only if you choose to make the introduction yourself.
Do I have to tell my contacts I'm being compensated?
Yes. We ask every expert to be open about their relationship with the startup when making an introduction. A simple "I advise this company" or "I work with Hivekind" is enough, and it makes the introduction more credible.
I'm currently employed. Can I still join?
Yes, provided your employment agreement allows outside advisory work. Check your company's policies before you join. We will never ask you to introduce a startup to your employer's customers or competitors, or put you forward in a way that conflicts with your current role.
What do I earn on the commercial track?
A fee for each qualified meeting and a share of revenue when a deal closes, both at market rates. Terms vary with the seniority of the contacts and the size of the deal, and you see them for each startup before you agree to anything.
What do I earn on the advisory track?
Equity in the startup under a standard advisor agreement with a vesting schedule. The startup pitches you and shares its offer before you commit.
How much of my time does this take?
On the commercial track, only the time it takes to make an introduction. Advisory roles typically involve a few hours a month, usually a monthly or quarterly check-in with the founders plus introductions where you have a strong match. You agree the scope with each startup.
What counts as a qualified meeting?
Each startup defines it with us before any introduction is made, usually a meeting with the right title at a target account. You see the definition before you agree to make an introduction.
What if a startup doesn't confirm a meeting that took place?
Startups fund meetings in advance into an account Hivekind holds. If a startup disputes a meeting, Hivekind reviews it and decides within 15 days.
How are startups vetted?
Every startup in the network has raised at least one round of funding from a prominent investor or venture firm, and we review each one before it's shown to experts.
How does the rating system work?
After each introduction, the startup gives feedback on fit and quality. We use it to improve our matching and bring you the opportunities that best suit your network.
I work in accounting, law or financial services. Which track is for me?
Professional rules in these fields often restrict cash payments for introductions, so experts in regulated industries join on the advisory track. If you're unsure whether this applies to you, check with your licensing body or compliance team.
